Dental Implants, Bridges and Dentures

Treatment for Missing Teeth in Brooklin, Ontario

How do I know if I’m a candidate for a dental implant?

The dentist will check your teeth and ask you some questions about your lifestyle. This will enable him/her to assess the condition of your teeth and jaw.

The reason for this is that you need to have enough bone density to hold an implant in place. Bone loss tends to happen when a missing tooth is not replaced or as result of the aging process. As soon as the natural teeth are removed or fall out, the face begins to age rapidly due to bone loss. If your bone density is poor then you will require a bone graft to build up your thin jaw bone.

If your teeth are in poor condition or you are suffering from gum disease (periodontal disease), bad breath or an abscess then these will have to be treated before dental implants can be placed.

If you are healthy and are prepared to follow a dental hygiene routine then you will be eligible for an implant.

High

Denture relinemen is recommended every two ($280+/each visit), not to mention the daily maintenance.

On-going Fee

$1,400+ initial fee, not including lifetime maintenance (based on partial)

Dentures need on-going care.  If you do not follow recommendations by your dentist/denturist then your face will age much more rapidly.

If you wait too long, the muscles that let you chew your food begin to shorten to accommodate the reduced space between your nose and your chin.

Implants versus Mini Implants

Mini Implants

The “Mini Implant System” was developed in order to provide greater denture stability for patients who cannot withstand the rigors of conventional implant surgery or do not have enough bone to allow for full-sized implants to be placed.

Mini implants consists of a miniature titanium implant that acts like the root of our tooth and a retaining fixture that is incorporated into the base of your denture.

Placement of the implants is accomplished quickly and easily in a process performed in the dentist’s office, with local anesthesia or light sedation to help make you more comfortable. It is a one step procedure that involves minimally invasive surgery, with a faster healing phase than traditional implants.

Benefits of mini implants versus full implants:

  • Less wait time

  • 1/4 of the price
