When compared to traditional braces, Invisalign Invisible Braces is a relatively new technology. But, did you know that Dr. Gelfand and his team have been providing Invisalign for over 15 years! During that time, he has helped 1000’s of people get their own beautiful, confident smile.
Even though Dawson Dental has been providing this service for a long time, we know there are still a lot of misconceptions surrounding this type of treatment. Today, we have broken down five of the most common myths about Invisalign.
Myth 1: Invisalign isn’t as effective as traditional metal braces.
The clear aligners that you receive during Invisalign treatment may appear to be more “flimsy” and therefore may not seem as sturdy as the metal brackets of traditional braces, but don’t be fooled! Although Invisalign works differently, it is no less effective!
Myth 2: Invisalign is more expensive than traditional metal braces.
Just like traditional mental braces, deciding to proceed with Invisalign is an investment in your health. The cost for Invisalign and for traditional metal braces is approximately the same. At Dawson Dental, the average price of Invisalign treatment is $3,990, however, we are able to make it affordable through our 0% financing and easy monthly payments.
Myth 3: My insurance company won’t cover Invisalign.
This is perhaps the biggest misconception of them all. Too often people believe that Invisalign is only for cosmetic purposes, and therefore think their Insurance Company won’t cover the treatment. Take the time to check your plan – since Invisalign is just as effective as traditional braces in correcting all kinds of dental problems, many insurance companies cover it. In fact, if your insurance plan covers traditional metal braces, they will almost always cover Invisalign too.
If you are still not sure, talk to one of our friendly team members and they will help you to figure it out!
Myth 4: “I’m too young!” or “I’m too old” for Braces
The exciting fact is that Invisalign works for all ages! Many adults choose Invisalign to straighten their teeth so they can maintain a more professional image. Alternately, Invisalign has a specialized approach just for teens, so appearance conscious teenagers are well taken care of, also.
Myth 5: Invisalign requires too much maintenance.
While treatment varies from case to case, patients often only have to come into the office approximately every 4-6 weeks once treatment is underway. Although all cases are different, the average number of aligners worn during treatment (aligners last approximately 2 weeks each) is between 18-30.
