Dental Sedation at Dawson Dental
We understand how difficult it can be to seek dental care when you feel nervous or fearful. That’s why we offer sedation options to help make your experience as calm and comfortable as possible.
From light nitrous oxide to general anesthesia, our dental professionals are trained to deliver the appropriate level of sedation based on your needs. Sedation can also reduce the number of visits required to complete your treatment plan.
Whether you’re in for a cleaning, a root canal, or tooth extraction, we’ll discuss sedation options with you to ensure your comfort every step of the way.
Book an Appointment
We invite you to book an appointment so we can better understand your dental concerns, explore treatment options, and answer any questions you may have. We look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your best smile!
Types of Sedation Dentistry
At Dawson Dental, we offer a range of sedation options tailored to your comfort level and treatment needs. Whether you’re mildly anxious or require deeper sedation, we’ll help you choose the option that’s right for you.
-
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Delivered through a nose hood during your visit, nitrous oxide is a mild sedative that reduces anxiety and elevates mood. You'll remain awake and responsive, but calm and comfortable throughout the procedure. Effects wear off quickly once the gas is stopped.
-
Light Oral Sedation
Taken as a prescribed pill or liquid before your appointment, this sedation method helps you feel deeply relaxed and drowsy without losing consciousness. You’ll remain aware and able to respond, but less anxious throughout treatment.
-
Moderate Sedation (Twilight Sedation)
Ideal for patients with strong gag reflexes or anxiety, this type of sedation uses a small dose of general anesthetic. You’ll feel sleepy and relaxed but will stay awake and able to follow instructions. Often used for procedures like extractions, implants, or veneer prep.
-
Deep Sedation (IV Sedation)
With IV sedation, you’ll fall asleep and won’t be easily awakened during the procedure. You’ll have little to no memory of the visit. This is best for complex oral surgeries or patients with significant dental anxiety.
