Dr. Monica Dosanjh is a Canadian born, board certified orthodontist, making her a specialist. Specialists are general dentists who do further schooling to specialize in a particular field. In her case, she specialized in orthodontics for 3 years after dental school.

After graduating from University of Toronto in 2002 with a Bachelors of Science, Dr. Dosanjh completed dentistry in 2007 from Boston University. She graduated dental school at the top of her class, receiving: 1- the American Association of Orthodontics award, 2- the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon award for excellence over her entire dental degree, and 3- the Quintessence Award for her excellence in clinical restorative dentistry. Dr. Dosanjh was 4th in her dental class of 120 students. After receiving her Doctorate of Dental Medicine, she declined her acceptance into an extremely competitive orthodontic specialty training program and chose to work in the Canadian Arctic as a general dentist for a year to build her work experience and treat the underprivileged. After that year, Dr. Dosanjh accepted a position to specialize at University of Connecticut and to do a Masters in Dental Science at the same time. Her masters thesis was in retainers and she is often sought out for her knowledge in this field. Over 5000 people have downloaded her research thesis! Dr. Burstone, who is considered the Einstein of orthodontic physics, taught Dr. Dosanjh himself. She attributes her problem solving and thinking outside the box capabilities to his teaching. Her knowledge of biomechanics (physics of tooth movement) is extremely strong. She can bend wires to achieve the tooth movements she wants. Dr. Dosanjh was also part of a craniofacial team at Yale University, where they treated patients with syndromes and cleft lip and palate.

After 11 years of university, Dr. Dosanjh worked in Connecticut as an orthodontist before moving back to Canada. Montreal was home for the following 5 years, as she was pursued by McGill University to teach orthodontics there, but decided to own her own orthodontic clinic instead. In 2017, she moved back to the Greater Toronto Area to be closer to her aging parents, while welcoming twins and later, a miracle baby. Since then, she has enjoyed being a hands-on mother to three girls while juggling her professional career as an orthodontist and helping her elderly parents. Dr. Dosanjh has found a niche that she loves by providing specialty level orthodontics to patients in the general dental setting. This allows parents to bring siblings to the same clinic, at the same time, for other dental needs - a great solution for busy parents.

Dr. Dosanjh does braces, expanders, functional growth modifying appliances but is also an experienced Invisalign provider, at the specialty level. She currently practices as an orthodontist in Ontario’s Durham Region and Mississauga.
